Nobody knew what lay beyond the mountain, but crossing the bridge was the only way forward. As your foot touches the first plank, the wind picks up, the valley stretches endlessly below, and the trees whisper secrets from both sides. What are you hoping to find on the other side: answers, someone lost, something magical, or maybe even yourself?

Write a narrative that begins the moment you step onto the bridge. Use your senses to describe every detail – the creaking ropes, the shifting boards, the feeling in your chest. What challenges do you face as you cross? What do you discover when you reach the other side… or do you?

Do you think the bridge is safe? Why or why not?

How might the wind affect your journey across the bridge?

What do you hear when you’re on the bridge?

How do you feel as you start crossing the bridge? Why?

What other challenges might you face while crossing the bridge?

How will you feel when you finally reach the other side?

What problem or conflict could you use in your narrative? And, how would you eventually solve it?
