Picture Prompt
Magical Graph Writing Prompt
You’re in class, eyes locked on a colourful bar chart titled “Great Reasons for Needing ‘One More Minute’ at Bedtime”. At first, everything seems normal—but then one bar begins to wobble like a rubber band. Another ripple like jelly, and with a soft pop, the labels and numbers start dancing across the graph. The whole chart seems alive, and your teacher hasn’t noticed!
You lean closer, trying to make sense of it all when suddenly, the graph transforms! Choose one of the magical changes below and let your imagination lead the way:
Crush It! 🏋️♀️
Out of nowhere, a gleaming silver press descends from the ceiling and flattens the bar graph like a pancake.
- What happens next?
- Does the press leave a mysterious mark, or does the chart spring back into shape?
- Are the other students amazed or completely oblivious?
Squish It! 🤏
Two enormous hands reach into the classroom and squish the chart. Bars ooze and meld together, forming strange, gooey shapes.
- Do the squished bars stick to you or your classmates?
- What noises does the graph make as it transforms?
- Is it still readable, or has it turned into a living creature?
Inflate It! 🎈
With a sound like a balloon inflating (foof, foof, foof!), the bars stretch taller until they float off the page. The classroom is soon adrift in a sea of bouncy, colourful columns.
- Do the bars carry you out of the classroom?
- Can you pop them? What’s inside?
- Do the categories on the graph start to talk or take on personalities?
