Before you dive into your stories, we recommend doing some group brainstorming to help spark your creativity and imagination. Here are some questions to discuss with your classmates:

What does snow look like, feel like, sound like?
How might each animal’s unique physical attributes (like a bear’s strength or a hawk’s wings) influence their snowboarding style and techniques?
How would natural behaviors of these animals (like a cat’s cautious curiosity or a wolf’s pack mentality) play into their snowboarding experience?
Picture the scenery around the mountain. How would you describe the setting? What time of day is it? How does the lighting reflect off the snow? Is it a clear, sunny day or are snowflakes still gently falling?
What obstacles might the snowboarders encounter on their way down? Think about trees, rocks, other snowboarders, or even built jumps and rails.
How fast is each animal moving down the slope? Are they racing down at top speeds, taking it slow and steady, or performing tricks?
Are there other animals or snowboarders on the slopes? How do they react to our main snowboarding animals? Do they cheer them on, challenge them to a race, or simply watch in awe?
How does each animal feel once they reach the bottom of the slope? Are they out of breath, exhilarated, ready to go again, or perhaps they find a cozy spot to rest?

Take a deep breath, feel the cold air, hear the crunch of the snow under the board, and immerse yourself into the spirit of these animals. As you write, aim to capture not just the motion but also the emotions and distinct attributes of your chosen creature. Ready to hit the slopes?

Sincerely,

Lucy
